About Worthington Pulse

Hi, I'm Dave.

This is a one-person project. I'm your neighbor, and I built this because I wanted it to exist.

The Problem

I love Worthington. I want to be engaged in what's happening here—the decisions being made, the projects being planned, the conversations shaping our community. But like most of you, I don't have hours each week to watch city council meetings, school board sessions, and planning commission hearings.

For too long, I felt like I had two choices: be uninformed, or dedicate serious time to civic engagement. That seemed wrong. So I decided to build a third option.

Using Tech to Remove Barriers

I'm a software developer by trade, and I realized I could use those skills to solve a civic problem. Not by building an app that requires everyone to learn something new, but by doing the boring work myself and delivering information the old-fashioned way: a newsletter in your inbox.

By using my technical skills I hope to make civic engagement more accessible. It means removing barriers between people and the information they need to participate in their community.

How It Works

I pull videos from public meetings—city council, board of education, library board, architectural review board, Worthington Together speakers, and more. Using transcription and AI tools, I analyze them to identify what actually matters: decisions made, projects proposed, deadlines coming up, and things that might affect your daily life.

Then I write a short, readable newsletter. No jargon. No spin. Just: "Here's what happened, here's why you might care, here's what happens next."

The goal is to turn 90-minute meetings into 5-minute reads.

Why I'm Doing This

I'm not collecting data to sell. I don't have a political agenda.

I just believe that informed communities make better decisions, and that busy people shouldn't have to choose between staying informed and having time for their families.

If this is useful to you, I'm glad. If you have feedback, I want to hear it. If you know someone who'd benefit, please share it with them.

What's Next

Right now, this is me in my spare time, experimenting and learning. As the community grows, I'm open to feedback on what meetings matter most, what format works best, and how to make this even more useful.

This is a labor of love for Worthington. Thanks for being here.
